Gaslighting Truth

Untangling a web of lies is only possible with the truth. While we’ve popularized the term gaslighting, it simply describes a construct of lies. But can the truth truly be changed? Faith in truth liberates because truth is foundational.

Gaslighters deliberately lead away from the truth because truth is anathema to lies. Sometimes alternate truths are created to avoid knowledge of the truths that have been deliberately hidden or distorted.

Gaslighting can be defined as psychological manipulation, usually over an extended period of time, that causes the victim to question the validity of their own thoughts, perceptions of reality, or memories; grossly misleading someone for your own advantage

Merriam Webster Inc. 2022

What is the goal of gaslighting? Mind control.

Goal 1:

confusion; loss of confidence and self-esteem

Goal 2:

uncertainty of mental and emotional stability

Goal 3:

dependency on the perpetrator

Warning!

“Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the Lord, and say, “Who sees us? and who knows us? Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay; for shall the work say of him that made it, he made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, he had no understanding?”

Isaiah 29:15-16

Gaslighting a Nation

It seems that many Americans have accepted avoidable evils as a necessary part of maintaining wealth and success. Donald Trump’s presidency uncovered several unscrupulous points of view from party members, some of which led to the January 6th insurrection. This is the epitome of godlessness!

The deceitful, manipulative, and even threatening ways that were used to avoid the transfer of power were not indicative of true public servants. Contrary to popular belief, a country is not a business. Because of the lives of the people, it is much more.

America must own up to its many truths and turn toward a course of complete integrity and transparency. Because the foundation of American wealth and power includes the specific exclusion of specific demographics of people, amending those errors will cost.

While some call for reparations in the form of money for descendants of slaves, I believe dedicated funds should go to the issues of life for citizens. Remember, Flint, MI, Benton Harbor, MI, Jackson, MS, etc. still don’t have safe drinking water. We need to adjust our priorities.

Our schools aren’t equitably funded where our tax base has been deliberately sabotaged and we’re drowning in poverty laden trauma. Let’s start doing the real work of life. So much has been neglected for so long that we don’t really have time to argue.

Faith Matters!!!

Governments and public officials want people to trust them, but shouldn’t we put our trust in that which is greater than us all? I’ve spoken before about being represented and not manipulated by my faith. Faith in truth is not without integrity!

While we claim to use the “honor system” in civic discourse, there cannot be honor without honesty and integrity. The fact that deceit has led to so much wealth in the past creates a vacuum. We need to fill that vacuum with the honesty and integrity that will allow us to be more efficient in our use of resources going forward.

Part of the problem with putting this into action is vanity and greediness. We’ve gotten so used to watching the people with the most try so hard to get more that we seem to believe it is the right thing to do. That is not our heavenly Father’s way and that’s why it doesn’t work for the many.

Can we reset and start putting into action the principles that we’ve memorized? We have produced so many reminders and tools to help us, but somehow, we’ve neglected the main ingredient – faith. Not the “I can have what I want” faith, but the humbling recognition of our connectedness and smallness with awe of that which sustains it all.

We must truly acknowledge the established foundation of all things. This can propel us into a season of personal accountability that accelerates our collective success. The intrinsic motivation to fear the Lord in the truest sense of the phrase is priceless.

Be Just!

But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you that you may be children of your Father which is heaven: for he make the sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans do the same?

Matthew 5:43-46
