Balanced Expectations

I have truly enjoyed the grace and mercy of the Lord. There isn’t enough time nor is there enough space on this website to express all of the many blessings the Father has given to me and my family. The scripture quote in this post, also the source for the words of one of my favorite hymns Great is Thy Faithfulness, speaks to the goodness of the Lord.

The irony of this quote is that it comes after the writer gives God credit for all his affliction. Notice his posture after he laments; it is one of faith. It reminds me of the story of Job. After his children died and he was plagued with disease, his sentiment still was, “Should we accept only good from the Lord and not accept evil?” Job 2:10

The bottom line of this post is that when we truly trust our Father, we can expect anything! Our Father gives us and those around us free will. His protection and care for us supersedes what we know and how we feel. Often after great trauma he reveals the depth and power of his healing and comfort. He can make what others intended for evil become a benefit for us.

It may not always appear to others, but his thorough process of addressing the roots of our problems cures us. Truly surrendering to our Father allows us to make him our concern while he cares for the rest. We must be anchored in him while on the road of faith. There are other drivers on the road that may not be guided by heavenly intentions. Hold on tight!

“This I recall to my mind; therefore, I have hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore, will I hope in him. “
