“But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

Galatians 5:22-23

Visibly Invisible

One of the most difficult things to do in life is to ignore the things that can be seen and felt. It takes extreme concentration to remember and realize that the things that truly matter are invisible. Most of the truly valuable components of life cannot be seen or felt with natural abilities.

In Matthew chapter 6, Christ tells us to “lay up treasures in heaven.” I believe heaven to be a place where the body does not weigh us down and it is not the worst part of life. The treasures in heaven are unimaginable! But while we live, we must use it (our body) while we acquire the invisible things that truly matter.

This makes life a truly treacherous existence though a gift. This paradox can be difficult to understand, but it can help us to make choices that define who we truly are on the inside – our invisible selves. What are your fruit? What do your behaviors identify about your true self?

It’s a good thing that our heavenly Father gives us the mercy and grace to make mistakes as we learn how to maximize the parts of us that are truly made in his image – our invisible parts. Who are you really?
