The Best Part
In the book of Numbers in the 18th chapter, Moses delivers a message from the Lord to Aaron, as he did many times. This passage is special because the Lord granted those who worked for him, the priests and Levites, the best of everything.
If you study scripture carefully, you’ll see that there were times that this status led to great pride and ungodliness. It has to be hard to always have the best of everything and still remember that it doesn’t compare to the Lord as your share.
Having said all that I’ve said, especially lately, you must know that the Lord is my portion. You must know that I know Psalm 23:1 and I lack nothing. But the reason is that there is nothing better than the Lord!
Our Father understands the frailty of mankind and gives us abundant grace to grow and become what he created us to be. He also gives his own servants to live and intercede with him for the peoples’ sin.
Make no mistake, the ability to touch and be heard by the Father in this world is the best part! I’ve never experienced a love as sure and complete as the Father’s. He truly is the best part!
“All the sacred gifts that the Israelites set aside for the Lord I give to you, to your sons, and to the daughters that are with you, as a due for all time. It shall be an everlasting covenant of salt before the Lord for you and for your offspring as well. And the Lord said to Aaron: You shall, however, have no territorial share among them or own any portion in their midst; I am your portion and your share among the Israelites.”
